I love podcasts. My iPod has many more megabytes of podcasts than music. To me, it’s like “learning a la carte” when I want and for how long I want. I love the rawness of them, too. So many of them are made by someone hooking a mic up to their computer and just recording to their hearts’ content! They’re just cool. And some of them are really funny, too.
What I DON’T like about podcasts is how I have to sort of pick through lists and lists and more lists to find the nuggets. Some I’ve subscribed to for sure, but there are nights like tonight where I just would enjoy finding something a little new and different without picking through a whole bunch of little, tiny text based lists. (iTunes, take note!)
So Robert Scoble posted an entry about Yahoo! Podcasts, and usually if he really, really likes something, it’s worth looking at. So I did, and I have to say I’m impressed.
It’s got a nice clean FAST interface. I did a search on Tech and got a nice clean list with my top favs right smack dab in the middle with nice clean little “subscribe” buttons attached.
Since I have a Yahoo! account, I just needed to log in to finish the subscribing process.
As soon as it took care of that, it took me to a page with all of the previous podcasts by the person to whom I just subscribed. Sweet!
One click back to the home page and there’s a nice tag cloud on the lower right tipping me as to the most popular searches, a nice column with the top-rated, etc. Very nice!
I really the layout and speed. For someone who is NOT a big Yahoo! fan, I’m pretty impressed! It’s worth a try if you’re still swimming through the whole concept of podcasts.
