Brainstorm!

Thank you, Adam Curry! You just solved my audio accessibility dilemma. On today’s Daily Source Code, Darrell Shandrow sent in a plea for Curry to add the voice tags back to the DSC so that it was accessible to those who cannot read the iPod display. (Shandrow is a contributor to the Blind Access Journal)

I’ve figured out how to handle getting my Grandma something that she can listen to, navigate, and that we can easily update. I can add voice tags to any podcasts that don’t have them, and she can certainly learn to use the click wheel to navigate through them– maybe even a Shuffle would work best for her, since we’d be recycling the content often. It’s unlikely that she’d have a need for more than a Gig, since most of what she wants to hear is news and educational content.

What a simple solution! And it drives home how easy it really is to make podcasts, blogs and the like easily accessible with just a few small tweaks and some thoughtfulness.

I’m off to get a player, some decent headphones, and some killer content. Yippee!!!!!
