I have the task of putting together a slide show for my Grandma’s memorial service on January 14th. I want some really good music to put behind it, but haven’t really found anything that isn’t either completely antithetical to her personality or just too sappy for words. Songs ruled out:
- Goodbye, My Friend
- Wind Beneath My Wings
- Tears in Heaven
- Angels
- I Will Remember You (great chorus, crummy lyrics in the verses)
- I Hope You Dance (too, too country, she’d hate it)
- Stairway to Heaven
- anything Enya
I have a wonderful recording of “The Lark Ascending” by Ralph Vaughan Williams, but it’s waaaaay too long — 17 minutes.
All suggestions would be welcomed.
