Today is Go Red For Women day. Wear red to let your friends and family know that women’s greatest risk is heart disease. Encourage them to take the steps they need to love their hearts. Denise turned her blog red today. If I weren’t attending a funeral today for my friend who died of a heart attack two days ago I would be wearing red too. She was only 66. She’d beaten breast cancer. She’d just made the decision to cut back on her work schedule to half-days and enjoy her retirement years (if you knew her, you’d know that was as close to full retirement as she was going to get).
She was a gifted lawyer, cook and friend. She knitted beautiful things, with needles and with her life. She should have been with us longer. Every time I saw her she would tell me that she knew she had to lose weight, get more exercise, stress less. She was beginning to really do that, but not soon enough.
Wear red today and start doing whatever it takes to keep your heart healthy. It’s hard to lose friends, family, and loved ones too soon and too suddenly.
