Naked Conversations: A Review

by Karoli on February 11, 2006

Naked Conversations by Robert Scoble and Shel Israel is a great overview of blogging, blogging tips, and using blogs as a business tool to communicate with customers. Anyone considering business blogging should read it.

With that said, I was disappointed in the voice — I really enjoy Scoble’s blog not only for the information and pace, but for the very real voice he has when he writes. Naked Conversations reads more like the voice of one standing outside looking in, which is the opposite of what I enjoy most about his blog. Still, it’s worth reading and reading again, and I’d recommend it for the easily accessible tips and studies of what has gone right and wrong in the blogosphere.

What I really wish for is a book from bloggers like me, who are not primarily business bloggers (I do have a business blog but it’s entirely unrelated to this one and not nearly as fun to write) but have passions and interests that span across many spectrums, and most importantly feel as though what they have to say may be worth reading even if they never become an “A-lister” or even have more than a handful of readers. More of a community-focused book would be most welcome.

  • Sorry about the voice. We decided early on to make it a bit more scholarly than my quick blog-and-run style. Nice review!
