The Pink Ball

When it is raining it is a bad idea to take your camera outside and spend lots of time standing still shooting photos of birds.

Nevertheless, one of my promises to myself for 2006 was that I would take at least one photo every day and learn something from it.

Yesterday just before the beginning of the current rainstorm, a pink ball blew into the lake. It was buffeted around by the wind and throughout the day has appeared at various locations all around the lake.

This is the first chapter in the story of the pink ball. It is sunset and the rain has stopped for about five minutes — just long enough to grab the very last shreds of a lackluster sunset. Just as the sun went below the horizon the clouds parted a tiny bit and let in those little glimmers to the left of the ball.

The ball itself was in the very center of the lake, but moving north at a rapid clip.

And Happy 53rd Birthday, T! You’re just as hot today as you were on your 35th. :)
