- It’s nearly April 15th which means T is crazed and so am I and so are my clients
- The church website I’ve been working on HAS to launch by this Friday
- The dance school website should launch by this Friday but probably won’t
- Sticks is going on a trip with the concert band, which after a week of dealing with a series of um….eyebrow-raising text messages between him and his one and only, has us a little nervous. I’d say more but I’m afraid it would verge on privacy violations that I would not be forgiven for
- Dancergirl has no school, no dance class and a TON of attitude because I’m not dropping everything to go have big fun with her. I would, but for the first three bullets above….
My oral surgery is set for the 20th. Countdown: 10 days, all is a go. Part of me just wishes it were behind me; the other part is a little bit nervous but resolute.
My weekend went like this: Saturday, T and I left at 2:30 pm to make a 5:40 drumline performance in Corona, about 100 miles away (in the wrong darn direction, though).
At 5:35 we were ten miles from the destination with no hope of getting there in time. We were in bumper-to-bumper traffic.
Google Maps had said there was a toll road for 8 miles. Indeed, there was. But if we weren’t living in Orange County and blessed with a spiffy little card with a spiffy little RFID chip we were hosed – no joy for out-of-towners on that road. So there we were in the left-hand lane, sitting, watching the cars in the “special lanes” zoom by, sure to make their appointment on time. We’d have paid…trust me, we’d have paid DOUBLE to be in those lanes.
I began to understand road rage.
I am so grateful that I don’t live in Orange County and don’t have to fight those damnable freeways. Corona is not a place I plan to revisit any time soon.
Oh, and the drumline got 4th — the scores above them were higher than the ones 2 divisions up, which tells me that they have some sandbaggers in their division. Nevertheless, we heard they did a great job and their score was their personal best. Dang, dang, dang. Sorry I missed it.
Dancergirl forgot to feed the dog and herself, despite clear-cut instructions. Sometimes I think she does it on purpose, just to make me feel guilt for leaving…grrrrr.
Sticks did a gig for a local church this morning that just rocked. Yes, I’m biased, but other people said so too, so I think it’s okay. They’re paying him for rehearsals and performances, which is even better. The day he returns he has another rehearsal for Easter. They’d like to keep him there, but he’s got a weekly gig at our church alternating percussion and drumset and I think that’s where he’ll stay…but the paying gigs are nice, too.
What’s your week going to be like? Taxes done? Kids on break or back in school? I hope it’s better than mine.
