My condolences, prayers and gratitude…

From me to the Scoble family. Robert Scoble’s mother suffered a catastrophic stroke earlier this week and she is not expected to survive the week. My heart goes out to Maryam and Robert Scoble and their family — this is so difficult and painful!

Yet, he writes this reminder, for which I’m grateful:

She signed a do not rescuscitate order and told all of her friends and family to let her go if she was going to be in such a state. Thankfully that took most of the hard decisions out of our hands. But it still was tough not overriding her wishes.

If there’s some good that might come out of this, please sit down and communicate with your family about what you’d like to have happen in a similar situation. Do not leave these kinds of decisions to your next of kin.

If you haven’t thought about this, please do. Release your family from the burden of making such decisions when they are grieving. My grandma did so, and it allowed us to focus our attention on making her as comfortable as possible in those last days instead of trying to ‘save her’.
