ADHD provides the kid with a surplus of energy and having that much energy can only annoy the other people around you because they do not understand your problem. The other problem is the deficit of attention but this comes secondary with the energy surplus... Having more energy enables your brain to process more things at a time... Unfortunately this kind of behavior does not comply with the attention pattern structure and the kid may appear to be out of place... I cannot tell you what a godsend medication has been. We tried behavior modification, diet, etic for a year with each of them before we went to meds. My youngest says "When I don't take my pill, I can't quit talking in my head, even when other people are talking." It allows them to focus for school, art, music, all sorts of things. To the parents who deny their children medication, would they deny their children insulin? Because I think it's really the same thing.
