The Hacker Salute

I’ve been listening and reading a lot about gestures on the web particularly with respect to blogging and I just want to offer this gesture to the assholes who think they can disrupt the conversation here with their incessant and juvenile attempts to hack this site. To all of you from me, I say:

To those nice folks who may have tried to access the site Friday evening only to be greeted by a redirect to Hotmail signups, please run a scan on your system and make sure your firewalls are secured because it does appear that they were just a bit more sophisticated this time around. I’ve (once again) been in contact with my web host to see if they can track their logs back to identify these idjuts.

Kmilyun, you missed it, but I wouldn’t necessarily have called it fun. I just renewed my domain yesterday and it sort of pisses me off — no, it REALLY pisses me off — that the host isn’t more secure.

i’m sorry to hear that. this is one of the reasons why i don’t run my site from my home boxes anymore. i’m glad that it got resolved quickly.
I would be pissed too. When I get my new puter (see blog) up and running I will have to ask you exactly what I did miss. As long as you promise not to redirect me somewhere else. Also, I finally caught some fish!
