Olbermann Owns Rumsfeld

I try to stay away from the national political scene on this blog, but after watching this video of Keith Olbermann completely ripping Rumsfeld’s speech on Wednesday to shreds, all I can say is — watch.

Mr. Rumsfeld is also personally confused, morally or intellectually, about his own standing in this matter. From Iraq to Katrina, to flu vaccine shortages, to the entire “Fog of Fear” which continues to envelope this nation – he, Mr. Bush, Mr. Cheney, and their cronies, have – inadvertently or intentionally – profited and benefited, both personally, and politically.

And yet he can stand up in public, and question the morality and the intellect of those of us who dare ask just for the receipt for the Emporer’s New Clothes.

I have new respect for Keith Olbermann. The passion with which he delivered his commentary was admirable. His message is one we ignore at our own peril.

I found your blog via your comment on Tim’s Nameless Blog (I think).

First, this post: One of the NOLA bloggers posted the extended text yesterday and it was wonderful. Olbermann completely turned around Rummy’s “fascist” remarks, firing them right back at the administration. I remember hearing Rummy utter that remark and yelling at the television (again).

As for this blog, I will be back. My oldest son has extreme ADHD with additional LDs (I was diagnosed in the 5th grade but my mother told them it was nonsense – I’ve since gotten myself treated). I remember the Headmaster of my son’s school saying to me at the end of his first grade, after reading his diagnosis, “These kids don’t go to college.” Well, that kid just graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a dual degree in Communication Studies and English, which includes a Certificate in Professional Writing. He’s still in Wilmington (if he didn’t float away last night in Ernesto), running a surfing magazine with a bunch of his ADHD friends. They’re about to put out their ninth issue, which will be distributed in 31 states.

I also use a pseudonym on my blog, not because I don’t want my blogger friends to know who I am, but because I don’t want my blog to turn up in searches using my real name.

Olbermann has the weapon of guile not found in Rumsfeld’s toolkit.

I’m so glad you stopped by and left a comment! As a Californian — a southern Californian — I’ve lived through my share of natural disasters but nothing compares to not just the magnitude of your disasters but also the incredible hubris of the government in their non-response.

It is frustrating to be on the sidelines (life dictates that) and more frustrating to see the colossal cluster**cks that are being made of the rebuilding process.

I’ve subscribed to your blogs — I’m looking forward to reading them.
