Day Fire at Sunset: Day 14

The blue in yesterday’s sky is gone now. The fire has doubled in size today, because of the Santa Ana winds, and continues to march north, leaving the sky laden with smoke and ash. Today’s sunset was brilliant, but of concern to residents living in possible evacuation areas (Ojai and Santa Paula).

Doc Searls has some beautiful photos of the Santa Barbara skies along with links to other photos. Here’s the Flickr Day Fire tag set.

9/18/2006 Update (Ventura County Star): Winds Fan Wildfire, It’s now burned over 61,000 acres.

Wow what a difference! Can I move my condo to the lakeside?

LOL, Kmilyun — maybe that boat, but I don’t know about the condo. :)

Just popping by to wave hi! The awesome pictures remind me of when the mountain I lived near in the Mojave Desert caught fire just before dusk many years ago.

I hope you’re far away from this.

BUt, but, but … I keep the boats in the condo. They are officially listed at DMV as being moored/stored in a cardboard box in my living room :) I fact I find way to funny.

What is the status on the fire and the air quality?
