If you haven’t seen this, and you probably haven’t and you have a Netflix account, get it. While I’m sure it’s available elsewhere as well, I know it’s available on Netflix.
It’s a fascinating documentary about a flock of parrots in the wild that were documented and to some extent, cared for, by Mark, a free spirit who came to San Francisco looking for a music career 25 years ago and found these parrots instead.
When Bigdog kept insisting that I watch it, I figured I’d indulge him and do it. I don’t usually sit and watch anything, but this had me riveted from beginning to end…Mark is an extraordinarily interesting and creative man. There is nothing maudlin or schmaltzy about how he interacts with the birds or how he feels about them, but by the end of the movie the passion he has for them raised surprising emotions in me, too.
Get it and spend an hour or so with wonderful SF scenes, fascinating people, and beautiful birds.
