Odds and ends in odd time

by Karoli on September 27, 2006

Lots of things to blog about, so little time….and lots of little things that add up to more interesting bigger things.

Spending the weekend at dance competitions leaves little time to really think about all the posts I want to write, and I don’t want to forget about them.

Dancergirl
has written some really nice poetry and posted it to her blog. Her latest is about how she felt when she won her competition last month. I think this is such a cool description:

Welcome to Open Championships!

On the stage,
My heart beating faster
A smile slowly growing
on my face
Because today is the day
Its my day, its mine

The Music quickens
I dance, prance,
Spring, and shine,
Rejoicing flowing from all bits of me
Because today is the day
It’s mine, It’s my day to keep

The Day Fire has now burned nearly 150,000 acres and is still going strong. It flared this afternoon and broke through containment lines, causing evacuations in upper Ojai and the Lockwood Valley area. Doc Searls has a great photo of the mushroom cloud that billowed over the top of the foothills to the east. It was so huge that it looked about the same from my vantage point 35 miles south, but I couldn’t get a clear shot of it from the ground without getting wires and telephone poles in the middle of it. My Day Fire photo is now the most viewed photo on my Flickr stream, and most fave’d — and I have to say that it’s one of my personal faves, too. :) Thanks to Doc Searls for linking it on his blog a couple of times, it really got some nice Flickr play. :)

I’m contemplating a couple of changes to the structure of the blog. With the political season bearing down on us, I’m finding a lot to say about it. My mother taught me that talking politics in a roomful of friends is a sure-fire way to lose some of them. Given that the focus of this blog has never been political and that those of you who read it didn’t really land here to hear my political views, I’m considering moving that blog activity to a separate blog on the site. Agree? Disagree?

For any of you who are photography buffs, Robert Scoble has a great photowalking video with Thomas Hawk on his Scoble Show site.

  • Yeah, I'm thinking it's better that way too.

Kmilyun, it will be 3 blogs plus the Vox blog which is more or less a moblog. :)

I pretty much don't talk about politics on my blog -- by choice. I'd vote for a separate blog.
  • A separate political theme blog works for me!

How many blogs are you going to be managing now? Wow!
