Hi Romie,

It's interesting that you saw his argument as an anti-freedom one. I saw it as the opposite -- that the Bill of Rights wasn't intended to constrain businesses any more than individuals. If the Scientologist's conduct wasn't consistent with what was expected, then he should've been fired. That same principle (in my view) should apply to anyone who needs a basis of trust to conduct their business in a meaningful way, which is really where I saw his argument going.

I was kind of glad it was Scientology -- most shows would've just hammered Christianity or Judaism, not that the writers spared those, either.

Glad you came by,

DnW

I am a die hard Boston Legal fan and when I heard about the Scientology spin I thought for sure my show would go for the freedom of religion angle. A little dissapointed that it went the other way - but hey, can't get it right every time I guess. Just wish that James Spader's character had stayed true to its usual stance on freedoms. Some of the stuff about Scientology was a little too out there for me, love it (not) when shows go too far in order to get ratings. So lost a few notches in my love of the whole thing but I will still be there next week.

I found that it an odd approach that Boston Legal was taking regarding Scientology. Apparently the writers very carefully tip toed through their choice of words regarding Scientology. Nevertheless, an argument could be made they went as far as they could to discredit Scientology. It wasn't obvious that they were doing to increase ratings. I actually detected a bit of dry humor regarding Scientolgoy and other religions but I wasn't amused. Somewhere in there I felt the issue of separation of church and state almost developed, but again like South Park it is not a show that I take seriously. Bottom line - I personally believe in freedom of speech as well as freedom of religion in spite of their being abused in the name of making money. I personally would neither lower myself to doing this nor be a victim of it but otherwise "Boston Legal" is a brilliant if light take on the legal industry.

I am sorry I missed the show :(

The last week my dsl connection has been on and off again. Havoc created with the wirless networking here - aughhhhh.... Then the power went out - twice - for a few seconds. The computer is on the UPS along with all the important cables - except - the power to the dsl modem LOL opps - it is just on a surge protector. But after everything came back to life - like magic - so did the dsl connection - at top speed no less!

I am planning on colorizing my new blog look - someday . .. just not sure if I want the oh my shocking bright or the subdued pastels or ... maybe just plain for awhile. I am leaning toward the natural colors.

I am researching the effects of colors on blog site visit times. It is amazing the differences between men and women when it comes to colors and their impact.

Scientology - the more you post about it the more I hate it :)
