What Brands Define You?

From Publishing 2.0

We are defined by the devices and applications we used as much as by the content we consumer[sic]. I’m an iPod user, Gmail user, Pandora user, Firefox user, Basecamp user, Feedburner user, Amazon shopper. I listen to the Gillmor Gang and read Rough Type (and without my head exploding). I am part of the TechMeme community.

I could almost quote this verbatim, but I’d add Flickr, Minti, 30Boxes, EBay and YouTube to the site list, and to the audio list I’d add the Podsafe Music Network and Diggnation (at least, for as long as they can manage to NOT get falling-down drunk in every episode).

Being a big believer in web communities, it’s interesting to me to see the different brands that we’ve all come to make a part of our lives, on and offline.

What does your list look like?

    Hi Matt,

Minti is a very cool community — I count it as one of my favorites. :)

I’m so behind the times! The only cool device/program I use consistently is iPod.

I kind of drift in and out of communities (I guess I have a commitment problem). I always come back to Flickr and BlogHer.
