MyBlogLog is a very cool way to form a community around your blog.
Nancy White would describe it as a blog-centric (as opposed to issue-centric or blogger-centric) community, and to some extent that’s true, though I can also see how issue-centric or topic-centric communities can also form as well.
It works like this: You sign up for it and register your blog. That creates your own “community”. Once registered, complete your profile, upload an avatar, and then join other communities. I chose some blogs that I read regularly and searched for them. If they were members, I joined their community.
Once you’ve joined a community you become part of that community’s list of members. Each member can also be added as a contact, too.
All of this is a very cool way to network your blog into the larger blogging community, and discover new blogs to read (as if I don’t already read way too many blogs as it is…LOL). They have widgets that can be added to the sidebar, tracking tools to track blog visits, and it’s easy to add other blogs that you write.
I’m still learning all of the different aspects of it, but I have to say that I think it’s one of the most interesting and powerful ways to gain visibility and add readers to your blog.
If you decide to try it, I hope you’ll add me to your community. I added (yet another) widget to my sidebar with a link to it, too.
