MamaLamaSamba

by Karoli on January 1, 2007

I’ve been working on video this weekend. Here’s the video of MamaLamaSamba — the Gordon Goodwin tune written for the CSUN Jazz Band. It has some nearly-impossible passages in it, like the dueling drum/sax solo portion, but the Moorpark Band did a nice job. This is the video from the Percussion Pit camera — we do have the entire band on video but I’m an obnoxiously braggy mom so I uploaded the Pit cam. :)

To share, use this link. I’m embedding my own flash video because I hate the way YouTube dumps the quality.

Wow! That was really good. Those are high school kids? Again, wow!

Actually, it’s kind of cool not seeing the brass and wood section. It makes you think about the music.

Thank you, Marie, and welcome! This group is a Junior College group, but Sticks and the three behind him are in high school or just out. They are hoping to move from 4th place in the West to 1st this year at the Reno Jazz Festival. :)
