Just before the Arctic Blast
Posted by Karoli in Photography January 13th, 2007

It’s below freezing tonight and our farmers are working to save strawberry and citrus crops from ruin. No rain, clouds or snow, just cold Arctic winds blowing hard.
Sticks couldn’t quite put together the broken drumline, try as he might. He feels as cold as the wind outside, and disappointed. But even like this photo, there’s rain, clouds, and cold, but also empowerment, even in disappointment.
He learned something worth learning — to know who you can count on and who you can’t, and mostly that he’ll survive one disappointment in a life mostly filled with victories thus far.
I’m certain tomorrow’s sunrise will be as promising as this sunset was ominous.
