Good for the Sacramento Sheriff for investigating Jennifer Strange’s death as involuntary manslaughter. After hearing the audio excerpts from the broadcast he decided to open an investigation.
Dr. Moser has some thoughts on the case, too. I hope this puts a damper on anyone’s ambition to hold stupid, risky contests like this. Or hazings.
Update: I’m watching a briefing by the family’s lawyer, Roger Dreyer, to the press. Someone asked about personal responsibility. GAWD, people. The radio station knew there was a risk and they knew that she was not feeling well. They sent her home without any attention to how she was physically. That’s the issue. Not whether she should reasonably have known not to drink 2 gallons of water. Stop arguing about personal responsibility.
One other interesting point: Evidently the so-called release hasn’t been handed over….Betcha it’s not tightly worded enough to cover what happened.
