Splashcast is live!

Splashcast is a new video site that launched today. I put together this quick video of my January Flickr photos in about 3 minutes using their spiffy tools — they picked up my Flickr tags automatically. I could have added background audio, but had a little bit of trouble figuring out exactly how to fit the selected audio into the time for the photos. What’s cool about it is that you can create video on the fly and add it to a channel, then broadcast the entire channel. This player is in my Default channel right now, but I could publish it to a custom channel, publish the channel player, and you could select different video in that specific channel.

I really like the way it’s done. I’m still playing with it, but it’s fast, easy, and blends all of my media — audio, video, photos, text, etc. I can see some incredibly practical uses for it, like tutorials and instructional video created fast and easily. When I have more time, I’ll be trying more complex stuff, but for right now, I’m impressed, particularly with the speed and video quality.
