Oprah, What Were You Thinking?

by Karoli on February 22, 2007

What on earth were Oprah Winfrey and the producers of her show thinking when they invited Bill O’Reilly to be a guest on her show discussing kidnapped children? Were they clueless about THIS?

The last authority on the planet with regard to kidnapped children is Bill O’Reilly. He takes them and re-victimizes them with his irresponsible and ignorant commentary.

I’m not sure if her show is waning in the ratings or what, but lately there have been some really dumb decisions on her show, and this one ices the cake.

I don’t know. I understand what you mean by revictimization. But O’Reilly has power and influence and for once he is on the right (by that I mean “correct”) side. It is something that feminists and child advocates can join together with him on. There is way too little of that in America these days. So I think it is good.

Becky, he BLAMED THE VICTIM.

In front of all of the faithful FOX viewers he said that the victim, a teenage boy, was wrong not to have run away from his captor and “must have liked it better” where he was.

That’s sick thinking in my view and I don’t think Oprah should be rehabilitating him.
