Bitterns are difficult birds to find and this one just rolled right in this morning during breakfast, looking for a meal in the koi pond. I couldn’t believe my luck! I think this is a Little Bittern, although the eye color is different in the photo on Wikipedia — possibly a Yellow Bittern. I got about 20 photos of it up close and personal, but this one is a favorite.
