Note to Self: Assume Nothing

by Karoli on July 30, 2007

I have spent all morning straightening out what I thought was completely done with regard to Sticks’ college entrance. Since fees are due today, I figured I’d better check on his account and make sure the enrolllment paperwork that he did earlier this month was complete and that he had a zero balance.

When I checked the portal, he still had a balance due and a note saying his final transcript hadn’t been received. Since I personally requested that back in June, I was confused. After sixteen phone calls and another zillion emails, we have another transcript on its way and are working on trying to figure out why the scholarship isn’t showing. On the other hand, I still don’t see the classes he registered for when he went for his advisement showing, which is a worry.

The moral: Assume something will need to be fixed before you know it’s broken. What a monumental pain.

My sympathies. There is no black hole deeper than that of a college admissions department.

What a pain. I’ve had nephew (and his friend) with me all weekend, as he began his CSUCI orientation today. I’m watching my sister go through a lot of the same things and am grateful not do have to deal with it for another six years…

Thanks…it’s been a royal pain. I will give props to the CSUN folks for having a real voice on the phone willing to help and also for the personal intervention of Sticks’ primary Jazz Studies advisor.
