We've gone so beyond what Paddy Chayefsky satirized in "Network." I don't know what saddens me more -- the networks that OK these voyeuristic spectacles or the stupid parents who collude with them to get their kids on TV. I hope it tanks. Missing a month of school -- not so much an issue for me. Sending my kid off with minimal adult contact? Giant issue. This is abusive to all the kids and the parents ought to be ashamed.
