Myanmar Blogger Update

by Karoli on October 3, 2007

Free Burma!

I’ve added a widget to my sidebar which records Burmese blogger “Niknayman‘s” updates to CBox as they’re available.  I hope you’ll take a minute to stop and look at it and remember that these liittle twitter-like posts are coming at great peril to this blogger.

Here is more about the current information blackout in Myanmar:

It’s worth noting that Myanmar is not the only place this type of oppression is happening (think Darfur!). However, it’s also where it’s happening right NOW, and perhaps out of a movement to peacefully support the dissidents of Myanmar, a movement to increase awareness of lost human rights world-wide will emerge. What is happening in Myanmar could just as easily happen here. But for today, and for October 4th, it’s happening there.

I hope you’ll participate.

Great post on this. FREE Burma!!!

Bush slammed the UN and the rulers of Myanmar in his UN speech last week. The only country that has any influence over Myanmar is China, and they can’t and won’t push too hard. There is too much Oil & Gas there that they need.

The UN must do something, but they never use military force to fight.
That is a huge problem.

Illegal drug and ruby fortunes are a BIG part of this too.

absurd thought -
God of the Universe wants
complete narco states

criminals in power
loving the corrupt drug war

absurd thought -
God of the Universe says
shoot peaceful protesters

calling for democracy
which you must never allow

absurd thought -
God of the Universe thinks
keep trying communism

you can never KILL too much
pursuing Utopia…
