A World on Fire

Santa Rosa Fire 1
Most of the news has been about the Malibu fire but there are many others burning in our area today. Early this afternoon, smoke began rolling across the sky at such an alarming pace that we were sure it was the Camarillo foothills on fire. I drove up to the hills behind the Santa Rosa Valley a bit later and as far as I could tell, the fire was coming from the southeast. There is also a significant fire in Fillmore, and the smoke could have been from that fire, too.

This Santa Ana event has been called a “major wind event”. Wind gusts from 80-100 miles per hour are expected in the mountains and canyons around here, after one of the lowest-rainfall years on record.

Yeah, this year’s Santa Ana is especially frightening. The view is similar here in the North Valley.

Praying for the firefighters and everyone in the affected areas…

How scary to live near the fire area. Stay safe!

That almost looks like some of the mile-wide tornadoes we occasionally get back this way. I can’t even imagine what people around there are going through who have breathing conditions. Stay safe, Karoli.
