Frontline: Cheney’s Law
Posted by Karoli in News October 21st, 2007
If you didn’t watch this show on PBS Tuesday, take an hour and watch it online here. Plan to spend some time reading through the documents linked to their report, too. PBS has put together a remarkably complete and well-rounded picture of why Cheney believes in unchecked powers of the Presidency in times of war, and who the key players are in the Cheney legal machine.
I am posting this here instead of the political blog because I really do believe that this transcends political ideology and strikes at the heart of what we believe this country should be: past, present and future. With a Presidential election looming, this highlights some pretty important themes and calls each of us to: a) vote; and b) vote intelligently. To me, voting intelligently means looking at the candidates, but more importantly, looking carefully at who their key campaign players are (given that those key campaign players are likely to become key advisors to whoever is elected).
If this show does nothing else, it will underscore how important it is that each voter’s voice be heard in every election, and how important it is that we take the time to look past sound bites into the detail of those who wish to represent us.
