		<description>Brokaw is great. I&#039;ve a lot of respect for him. As for the difference between then and now, I agree... but I also think it has a lot to do with where we were as a nation. We were booming. Amidst all of the pain, and all of the passion, there was (in the adults) the looming memory of WWII... the memory of monumental pain, and forced passion. It wasn&#039;t so much that we were all progressives, but rather that we were running away from horrible, horrible times. So we were willing to take the necessary risks. We were willing to trust a &quot;big government&quot;, because we wanted the moon, dammit. We&#039;d seen a bit too much of the earth. It was time for a vacay. </description>

		<description>I agree with you about people being more apathetic today as opposed to back then.  Yeah, I, too, have great memories of that time.   Maybe because I was just a clueless kid.  I remember it all kind of bathed in color and sunshine.  that&#039;s why it&#039;s weird to realize all that was actually going on - from MLK and RFK&#039;s murders, to riots.  Great Post!</description>
