Hey, Peops – how about sending an e-mail message to the MA DIA in support of Mr. Fiola? Here's one I sent – feel free to plagiarize:

I think you should reconsider your stance on Mr. Fiola's dismissal due to material discovered on his laptop. As I'm sure you are aware, an article in Monday's Boston Herald (http://www.bostonherald.com/news/regional/gener...) and a widely circulated article by PC Magazine (http://blogs.pcmag.com/securitywatch/2008/06/gu...) states that Tami Loehrs proved Fiola's innocence.

It appears that your IT department may in fact be to blame for his laptop's virus infection – using a poor antivirus program, not configuring it properly, or perhaps using only a single antivirus solution. Or maybe they did all that could be reasonably expected of them. But clearly Fiola is innocent.

It would be a shame if you do not reconsider your decision to dismiss Michael Fiola. Sticking by a rash, ill-informed decision, rather than showing humility and admitting fault, will tarnish your department and breed ill-will with the public, especially since the story has now been brought to light. It has had such an affect on me at least.
