It takes a lot to get me really excited about new social media sites these days. There’s so many that it’s almost overwhelming, and each one seems to have its own community and profile requirements, and then when that’s done, there’s that whole friend thing again…finding, discovering and making friends on yet another site.
But this one is worth it. It’s worth it for a couple of reasons…first, it’s one of the prettiest sites I’ve ever seen. It makes me happy just to go visit my page because it’s so pretty.
This site is visual Twitter. It took me about 30 seconds to sign up, another 30 seconds to fill out my profile, and away we went. I brought in my Flickr faves, my Last.fm faves, and dropped the bookmarklet onto my Firefox toolbar and went for a short spin around the web.
I stopped first at Mother Nature Network, where I found this really cool article and image on LED Twist Together lamps. Clicked the bookmarklet, clicked the image, and it was added to my page.
Because I’d been tipped off to the site by Chris Baskind over on FriendFeed, I friended him (one-click) and friended his friends, found a few more from Friendfeed, friended them, sent the link out by IM to other friends and friended them. It took me about 5 minutes.
Check out the stream on the right-hand side of the page — that Facebook-like activity stream. That’s all part of the site and part of discovering new and other cool things to ‘enjoy’.
