better than xanax

With that title, I’m sure I’ll be hit by every spammer on the planet. Many thanks to Gideon at a public defender for supplying the title without even seeing the photo!

This is the beginning of my experimental journeys with the camera. Plexiglass is wonderful stuff and when it’s wet, it’s really wonderful stuff. Being as obsessed as I am with reflections, I’m playing with photographing wet plexiglass in front of different objects in different light, with different intentions. This one is the best of the ones I took today — the bird of paradise takes on a completely different character when bathed in sunset and seen through water droplets.

Let me know what you think. Better yet, leave some suggestions for interesting backgrounds.

    Nice photo.

    Nice headline.

Depending on how thick the Plexiglass is (I can't really tell) it would be pretty cool to do a dailymugshot.com series with a mug behind the plexi. I signed up for the site but haven't started participating yet. The abstract potential here seems pretty fun though.

I thought about the possibility of doing self portraits through it. It's not very thick — about 3/8″ or so. I think I'll have to get bolder about inserting myself into the shot before I do it…but there are some interesting possibilities. shadows, scenes, objects…I'm looking forward to playing with it.

Almost any subject could work as long as there are strong forms/color to form some definition.
