Today was one of those days. DG and I tagged along up to UCSB with BigDog. While he taught, we walked on the beach at low tide, catching waves, dogs, rocks and things with our cameras (I gave her the D70). She pointed out this rock on the beach. It was dry when she showed it to me, but it was so clearly heart-shaped that we instantly loved it. As I focused on it, a wave washed over it. Just a little wave. Just enough to capture the sun in a montage of amazing starbursts just as I hit the shutter button. Sheer, dumb, amazing luck. I got five more in varying states of sunwash, but this one captivated me.
