Middle class tax rescues and budget reconciliation

by Karoli on January 25, 2010

If I were the President, and I wanted to make sure a budget reconciliation initiative with agreed-upon changes to health care reform got 51 votes, maybe introducing some mild tax relief to middle class families is just the ticket.

Because I wouldn’t want to be the politician running for office who voted against giving those families a much-needed tax cut, would you?

  • Thanks for taking the time to write about and share your process.
  • Apparently, somebody higher up agreed with you! And there was more along these lines. I thought it was masterful and masterfully delivered.
  • I think Americans are smart enough to see through that. And egg would be on the face of any Democrat who tried this tactic.

"The Republicans voted against tax cuts!" "Yeah, because you tried to turn tax cuts into the health care bill we are all against."
  • Kyle, that's a page out of the GOP playbook. I can cite one instance after another after another, beginning with the Bush tax cuts in recent days, and going much farther back.
