CNN’s Senior Middle East correspondent Ben Wedeman sorts out the Middle East Government lexicon so we know what they really mean when they say “stable transition”, “negotiation”, and “freedom of assembly”. It’s quite a good list and handy for reference should you happen to hear one of the unending government statements urging protesters to go home and let negotiations begin. The only one he left out was “police tools“, but that one might be pretty self-explanatory. Egyptian VP Suleiman has been threatening it for two days, as if it’s not already happening.
And for a little bit of context on why Egyptians might be so bitter, here’s a story of a 25-year old Egyptian who taught English in his spare time, and who is now dead.
