Dancing - 9 Years

Posted by Karoli in Video June 25th, 2008

DG made this Scrapblog after scanning all the pics we’ve taken of her over the years dancing. It’s SUCH a walk down memory lane for me…LOVE IT. I told Erin (QueenofSpain) on Twitter tonight that her little girl would make a totally cute little Irish dancer, after watching her little dance video. This walks me down those same years, when DG was the ‘littlest dancer”.

I hope you dance, too. We’re leaving next week for Nashville and the North American Irish Dance Championships, where DG will be dancing on 7/5. Keep her in your thoughts.

It teaches sportsmanship? Not so much.

Of course, parents set the precedent for this stuff, pundits and politicians reinforce it (there’s all sorts of ways to deliver a sucker punch), so I’m cynically unsurprised when kids do it. Just sad, is all.

I love this one. They were so energized, and the audience was right there. It’s a Pat Metheny chart: Song for Bilbao

A Little Sunday Music

Sticks let me tag along to a performance he did yesterday. This is Cerulean Sky, one of the more progressive and interesting pieces I’ve heard him play. I recorded the audio and video on my Canon camera and then transcoded it for the iPod touch before uploading it to Blip.tv. For a camera that’s mostly featured around still photos, I’m really happy with the audio quality. It’s certainly not comparable to running audio recordings through a mixer and recording directly to disk, but for a live performance in an auditorium, it is quite nice. Yes, the white balance isn’t quite the best, but it was, after all, live. Click through if you want to watch any of the other pieces they performed, or wait..because I’ll probably post them.
